Biography

Country Of origin: Italy

An Italian guitarist and composer who made his primary living and renown in Paris. Originally a cellist, Carulli was able to adapt his notational devices to the six string guitar which was just coming into its own during his lifetime. At once he was the most prominent guitarist in Paris (perhaps the world) and was the contemporary of Carcassi and Sor (the latter surpassing the status of the other two). Ferdinando composed numerous works including sonatas, studies, and variations most of which are still played today and can be found in almost any music establishment. ~ Keith Johnson~ Rovi
