John Rutter is the preeminent British composer of choral church music of the late 20th century. His lyrical, accessible style has made his many anthems and carols widely popular with church and community choirs. A graduate of Cambridge University, he founded the Cambridge Singers in 1981, and he has established an extensive international career as a choral conductor. His larger works include Requiem, Gloria, Magnificat, Mass of the Children, two children's operas, and a piano concerto. Among his most lasting legacies is the immensely successful series Carols for Choirs, which he co-edited with David Willcocks.~ Rovi
