Biography

Active: 1960s
Country Of origin: Brazil

Revealed in the Jovem Guarda craze of the '60s, Leno e Lílian soon were performing at the show Jovem Guarda, at the TV Record (São Paulo), and enjoying enormous national success in radio and TV shows throughout the country. Their first hit came from their first recorded single "Pobre Menina." The first of their two LPs (of this first phase) was recorded in the same year, having that song and another hit, "Eu Não Sabia Que Você Existia" (Renato Barros/Tony). Their other hits were "Não Acredito" (Neil Diamond, version by Rossini Pinto) and "Coisinha Estúpida" (Carson Parks, version by Leno). In 1968, the duo was dissolved and Leno had some success in his individual career, while Lílian dedicated herself to her profession as a model. In 1972, they teamed up again, recording Leno e Lílian in 1972, with Raul Seixas' "Deus é Quem Sabe," followed by another Leno e Lílian LP in the next year, with "Amantes de Verão." The duo still performs, both together and individually, and their careers were renovated by the retro movement of the Jovem Guarda of the '90s. ~ Alvaro Neder~ Rovi
