Review

This sampler contains music by 17 guitarists who recorded for Blue Note. Four (including Charlie Christian's acoustic feature on "Jammin' in Four" and the rare "Jimmy's Blues" by Jimmy Shirley) songs are from Blue Note's early days, seven are from its prime bop and hard bop years and the remaining six (ranging from Earl Klugh to Al DiMeola) are of more recent vintage. The CD gives one a good introduction to these talented players although this release is not too essential. ~ Scott Yanow
