Review

Cante Flamenco features a number of classic flamenco recordings from the '30s. Recording technology was rudimentary at best in the '30s, particularly when it came to recording such earthy music. However, the lo-fi recording quality only adds to these songs, bringing even more earthiness to them. This is primitive music, for sure. Many of the 32 songs featured on this collection are performed by Pepe Pinto. Other performers include Antonio Mairena, Tomas Pavon, Manuel Vallejo, and a few others. This collection has a very historical feel and should appeal to anyone looking for music that embodies a sense of a long-lost past. ~ Jason Birchmeier
